I’ve saved an article that my campus minister, Ross Miller, wrote many years ago. I thought of it, and dug it out, following a recent conversation about how to respond when someone is trying to “save” you. Maybe it hasn’t happened to you yet, but I honestly hope that it does before your time here in Cedar Falls is over. You might know what I’m talking about, like when an “Evangelist” stands outside Maucker Union and “preaches”. Listen to what is said and not said. Process what you see and hear. Or perhaps you’ve already been invited to a campus ministry event put on by a group different than the tradition you’ve grown up in or are most familiar and comfortable. Exploration is good. Asking questions is good. Talking about what you’ve seen or heard or experienced is critical.
